Our team plays flat track roller derby. There are 3 levels of play.
Level 1 is for beginner skaters of any age. Players cannot use force to stop an opponent.
Level 2 players are allowed to make contact but cannot initiate with forceful contact.
Level 3 follows the traditional rules of play for flat track derby.
Coaches work diligently with players to increase their knowledge, confidence, and skill to ensure the highest level of safety possible.

Upskate New York Junior Roller Derby is a public, nonprofit youth organization committed to helping young skaters grow in confidence, character, and athletic skill. We welcome skaters of all genders and orientations and provide a positive, supportive environment where teamwork, healthy relationships, and personal growth come first.
Through practices, games, and community, our athletes learn far more than how to skate—they build communication skills, resilience, and sportsmanship that carry into every part of life. We also partner with leagues across New York and beyond to support youth roller derby and promote safe, inclusive amateur competition at the regional and national level.
JRDA works with junior roller derby leagues in the United States to manage the development of the sport for youth in the US.
